Hershey's Chocolate Syrup is a classic ingredient in chocolate milk and ice cream sundaes.

Now, consumers will find a new, somewhat healthier syrup formula under The Hershey's Company's name at stores.

Hershey's Simply 5 Syrup contains no high-fructose corn syrup or artificial preservatives and flavors. It's also made from non-GMO ingredients.

The new syrup has just five ingredients compared to the 11 ingredients listed on the classic syrup bottles.

The new syrup is made from: cocoa, water, natural vanilla flavor, pure cane sugar and organic invert cane syrup.

"People are looking for products that taste great and have ingredients that they recognize, know and trust," said Kriston Ohm, senior brand manager for Hershey'sSyrups and Toppings in a press statement.

Since last year, Hershey has been transitioning toward more GMO-free and natural ingredients in its chocolate products.

The syrup sells for about $3.29 a bottle. In the meantime, for those who prefer artificial ingredients, the original syrup formula is still available.
