The basis is sweetened sticky rice.

Instead of using ordinary cooking rice, a special type of rice is used: long-grain Thai sticky rice.

Once the rice has been cooked, it is mixed with coconut milk, sugar and a pinch of salt. All of this is slowly soaked up by the rice, turning it into sticky sweet yumminess.

Once the sticky rice is ready, it’s put on a plate and topped with sliced mango.

You can get mango all year round, but you can get the sweetest, ripest mangos when they are in season. The season is from April – July. No worries, no need to remember this. You’ll know when it’s the season: you’ll know, when you see every single street vendor selling stacks of big juicy mangos!

To top it off, a sweetened coconut milk sauce is poured over the mango and rice. Finally, 1-2 tablespoons of fried or roasted crunchy yellow mung beans are sprinkled over it, and tada: dessert is ready!
