It's the Breaking Bad movie we didn't know we needed but after seeing it I can say yeah we kinda did. Picking up literally seconds after the finale, it gives closure on a character who never really got closure. There's some callbacks and fanservice, but it's allowed. Really my biggest complaint is I would have rather seen this as a miniseries than a movie, that it's a 2-hour movie means things do sometimes feel a smidge rushed, especially in the beginning when we see Jesse go from totally shellshocked to determined. I believe the journey, it just happens a little fast. Other than that, this is totally a Breaking Bad story, and a great one. It's beautifully done, and I didn't realize how much I wanted to see this characters journey end until I got it.

Vince Gilligan loves the characters and world he created for his hit AMC series Breaking Bad. And, we're the better for it. He's taken us back to the days after the Breaking Bad finale so we can learn what happened to Jesse Pinkman. Gilligan has a mature and measured filmmaking voice. El Camino is simply an addendum to the Breaking Bad book.

Breaking Bad was a show that broke the standard storytelling Tv mould and delivered in my opinion, the best Tv show. This film plays out like an Epilogue and is not an essential part of the storyline. When we last left Jesse he was fleeing from the captivity scene and looked promising, but that would not be the case. The film picks up immediately and we are once again in the Breaking Bad world. This film is an incredible addition to the series, and in a world where filmmakers take liberties with storytelling, this actually has a reason to exist. Solid Netflix film and further evidence they are beginning to break the mould on the movie originals. Glad to see Breaking Bad back and another film down the line wouldn't hurt either. 11/10/2019
