When you think of Walt Disney World, your mind immediately goes to the parks. The incredible immersive atmosphere immediately pulls you in, enveloping your senses for an unbelievably memorable experience that brings us Disney fans back again and again. But, the details and thoughtful Imagineering don’t stop at the parks. Each and every Disney World Resort hotel has an incredible amount of detail put into its theming and experience. We’re breaking down some of our favorite Disney World Resort hotel trivia by the numbers, sharing a few incredible facts you may not have known about the hotels!
Disney World Hotel by the Numbers
1,000 Feet
One thousand feet is the length of the Electrical Water Pageant, a lighted parade that guests at the Magic Kingdom area resort hotels can enjoy on Bay LAke Seven Seas Lagoon each night. The Electrical Water Pageant first began on October 26th, 1971, originally known as the Electrical Pageant.

It consists of floating structures that are a thousand feet long, covered with tiny lights that blink on and off so that guests can watch from their hotel rooms. As part of the parade, you’ll see lighted dragons, as well as sea creatures that are accompanied by an iconic synthesizer soundtrack. In fact, fans of the Main Street Electrical Parade will likely notice some similarities, which premiered later on at Disneyland in 1972.

Two is the number of hotels that first existed when Walt Disney World originally opened. As you would expect, these hotels all were in the Magic Kingdom area, as that was the only park that existed when Walt Disney World opened in 1971. The original two hotels were Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Resort (as it was known at that time).
Later on in 1971, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds would open. This option opened up for guests beginning on November 19th, 1971. The next set of hotels wouldn’t open until teh 1980s, with Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa both opening in 1988.
308,527 Gallons
308,527 gallons is the size of the biggest resort hotel pool on property, the Big Blue Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The Big Blue Pool is one of three available pools for guests at Art of Animation Resort. This massive pool is themed to Pixar’s Finding Nemo and includes giant set pieces of Nemo, Crush, and other characters from the film.
Little kids can also enjoy Schoolyard Sprayground at the pool, where they can find pop-up jets and gushing water alongside Finding Nemo characters. Squirt’s Righteous Reef is a Finding Nemo-themed playground for kids at the area as well.
2,880 Rooms
Disney’s Pop Century has one of the largest room occupancies on Disney World property, with 2,880 rooms. The Value Resort hotel is a popular pick amongst guests at Disney World for its more affordable pricing and its transportation choices, including the Disney Skyliner.
Pop Century Resort is themed to the decades, so you’ll find sections based on the decades from the 1950s to the 1990s. Each section has giant set pieces with iconic features that represent each of these periods of time.
46 Acres
The savanna at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is an impressive 46 acres. Guests staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge are joined by some incredibly unique co-guests — a variety of animal species! From savanna-view rooms at the hotel, you can look out over a savanna that is home to more than 200 animals.
If you want to have a particularly unique experience on the savanna at Animal Kingdom Lodge, you can take advantage of the Starlight Safari. 82 Feet
The showstopping fireplace in the lobby at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge fireplace is 82-feet tall. The incredible fireplace is built to look like the strate of the Grand Canyon, with various colors and hues.
The working fireplace is a popular spot for guests to hang out, especially to take a break at the end of the night. With a few rows of rocking chairs, you can sit back and relax in the beautiful atmosphere.
2,800 Square Feet
Two thousand eight hundred square feet is the size of the three-bedroom Grand Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, one of the largest rooms on the property.
The massive space includes three bedrooms, four full bedrooms, a full kitchen, living and dining areas, a washer and dryer, and a balcony. With one king bed, four queen beds, and one queen-size sleeper sofa, the space can accommodate up to 12 adults.
14.7 Miles
The Disney World Monorail operates over a span of 14.7 miles. The Monorail is perhaps the most iconic form of transportation at Walt Disney World, with a line that can connect guests to Magic Kingdom and another to EPCOT. Guests not staying at one of the Monorail Resort hotels can use the Transportation and Ticket Center to hop on the Monorail to get to either Magic Kingdom or EPCOT.

Meanwhile, guests at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa can hop on the Monorail from their hotel to get to Magic Kingdom. Additionally, they can take the Monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center to transfer to the EPCOT Monorail
230 Feet
Two hundred and thirty feet is the length of the longest waterslide at a Disney World hotel, the waterslide at Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort.
Stormalong Bay offers more than three acres of massive pools and play areas with an expansive sand-bottomed pool. You can float down a lazy river, enjoy three whirlpool spas, or slide down the 230-foot-long waterslide from a life-sized shipwreck replica.
600 Pounds
Six hundred pounds of sugar go into making the iconic lifesize Gingerbread House each holiday season at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Each year, the Gingerbread House returns to the Grand Floridian lobby as an incredible photo opportunities for visiting guests.
But, the house also serves as a working treat shop, with a full menu of delicious themed bites that you can pick up!
