Beach Lovers: These Are the Best Beach Campgrounds in the US (2024)

The Southeast United States is known for many things. The region has year-round sunshine, classic Southern-style dishes, a low cost of living, and scenic state parks. However, it’s the alluring beaches that take the cake.

Best of all, there are several coastal camping options for RV travelers. So if you’re ready for a Southern adventure, sit back, relax, and let us tell you about the best beach campgrounds you can find in the South.

Best Beach Campgrounds in the Southeast

Whether you want access to white, sandy beaches or resort-style amenities, there are plenty of RV parks in the Southeast. Check out the best beach camping options below.

Beverly Beach RV Resort & Campers Village

Located in Flagler Beach, Florida, Beverly Beach RV Resort & Campers Village offers 1,500 feet of coastline paradise. Visitors can enjoy planned water sports, fishing, kayaking, and boating. If you’re a racecar fan, you’ll be happy to know that the historic Daytona International Speedway is only 15 minutes away. The RV sites are equipped with full hookups.

Don’t have an RV? No need to worry. You can stay at one of the resort’s cabins overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. However, pets are not allowed inside the cabins. You also have access to laundry facilities and three full-service bathhouses at the campground.

Gulf State Park RV and Primitive Campground

With several bathhouses, laundry facilities, and ball courts, Gulf State Park is one of the best beach campgrounds in the Southeast. You are within two miles of white, sandy beaches, and there are hundreds of full hookup sites (496 to be exact.) Plus, the sites are large enough to accommodate vehicles with pullouts. Make sure to stop at the nearby camp store that offers food items, camping items, and even bike rentals!

Enjoy 28 miles of paved trails as you explore several ecosystems in the park. The Gopher Tortoise Trail is a popular option for spotting alligators! Just note that the trails are closed off after dusk.

Jekyll Island Campground

Do not be fooled by the surrounding wooded acres. Jekyll Island Campground in Georgia is a great selection for a beach gateway. The campground is located a half-mile from Driftwood Beach. Your options for an overnight stay include full hookup sites and primitive tent sites. Either way, visitors receive free Wi-Fi, a general store, an on-site laundry facility, and electricity.

Are you into golf? If so, feel free to use your golf cart on the Jekyll Island roads. Just make sure that your vehicle is street legal.

River’s End Campground

River’s End Campground is your go-to campground if you’re looking for coastal attractions in Georgia. You can spend an afternoon exploring Tybee Pier & Pavilion or take a trolley tour of downtown Savannah. Visitors have two options for RV camping: full hookup RV sites and preferred full hookup sites. Both offer electrical service, standard cable, and sewer. Before reserving a spot, remember that all sites are of different sizes.

Alternatively, you reserve one of their 400-square-foot cabins, but only two of those cabins are pet friendly.

Luxury RV Resort

Luxury RV Resort lives up to its reputation as a luxurious overnight resort. Located near Orange Beach, Alabama, this RV park puts you at the center of several attractions. The list includes the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, The Hangout, and De Soto’s Seafood Kitchen, just to name a few. Better yet, take your kids to Waterville USA — an amusem*nt park that has rides and water slides.

Visitors have access to 97 sites complete with concrete pads, electrical service, water, and cable hookups.

Lakewood Camping Resort

Located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Lakewood Camping Resort goes above and beyond in providing a fun-filled oceanic experience. What awaits you at this resort? The list includes miles of coastline, a water park, multiple water slides, and a beachfront playground. No need to travel far to grab a bite to eat either. The resort offers several oceanside food trucks and a snack bar.

RV sites are full hookups with free Wi-Fi, a picnic table, and on-trash removal services. In case you are wondering, pets are welcome on the sites!

Camp Hatteras RV Campground

You can never go wrong with a family-owned camp like Camp Hatteras RV Campground. Get up close and personal with the ocean by staying at one of the oceanfront sites. They come with concrete pads, patio paved roads, and cable TV. Though Wi-Fi is limited, you won’t need it. Instead, visitors can indulge in the nearby clubhouse, play miniature golf, or participate in planned activities.

Forget something for your trip, then stock up on your RV needs by visiting the on-site camp store.
